First comes the swearing-in, then the swearing-at... President Joe Biden unilaterally killed the Keystone XL pipeline project, putting tens of thousands of people on both sides of the Canada-US border out of work.

Even worse: the US-funded eco-activists are now emboldened to go after other necessary energy projects in Canada.

As Alberta Premier Jason Kenney warned: "There are people now working in the White House who I believe may very well counsel the president to use on other pipelines the power that he used today."

NOT GOOD.

Entire industries are hanging on by their fingernails, and the Horgan NDP don't care -- their vaunted small business recovery grant program has given out just $65 million out of the $300 million they promised.

Why? Let Rob Shaw at CHEK News explain:

"B.C.’s small business community says the program is still suffering from early application rules that were unreasonably restrictive."

Do better, NDP. Our small businesses need help.

Canada's trillion-dollar (and growing) debt will be the defining economic challenge after COVID-19 -- and one our politicians seem ill-equipped to handle. From the Financial Post:

"The problem involves the country’s deteriorating balance sheet, which, if we continue to ignore it, could leave us in a very precarious place, with loads of debt and an economy that has not recovered enough to support it. Such a situation would have all kinds of consequences, from the value of our currency to the cost of borrowing going forward."

We LOVE LOVE LOVE what's going on in Prince Rupert with their growing, well-managed port.

ReNew Canada has this story on yet another major investment in the port (and more construction jobs building it!), plus we're seeing more inland investment spinning off from all this (smiling at you, NSD Inland Port and Developments).
