WELLNESS WEDNESDAY #93: Spring into Mental Health ActionSpring sprung this week – as we celebrated the first day of a new season yesterday. And the Canadian Association for Mental Health was all over it!“It’s the season of fresh starts and new beginnings, symbolized by growth and new life. It’s a time when we’re encouraged to clean our homes and organize our lives. It’s also a great time to give a little attention to renewing your mental health as well,” the CAMH says.Sounds good to us! Among the CAMH’s suggestions:1. Create a to-do list of short-term and long-term goals that you want to complete2. Try to improve your physical health3. Begin to renew your spirit4. Work on improving your stress management skills5. Actively contribute to your community6. Live in the here and nowFor more detail, check out CAMH’s full piece at www.camh.ca/en/camh-news-and-stories/spring-cleaning-for-your-mental-health. -----Each week, ICBA’s Jordan Bateman reflects on what we’ve learned as we participate in ICBA’s Workplace Wellness Program. ICBA’s Workplace Wellness Program is helping more than 90 companies and nearly 10,000 construction professionals better understand mental health. It's a tale of two provinces, and two governments.💸 In NDP-led British Columbia, the inflation rate was 6.2% -- the only province in Canada that didn't see a decline from the month before. 👏 In Conservative-led Alberta, the inflation rate dropped to 3.6% -- the biggest drop in the country, keeping it the lowest rate in the country.Affordability matters, and in that measure, Alberta is kicking B.C.'s butt. ... As the federal government pours billions into housing construction across the country, builders are wondering how the system absorbs all of this money and makes a meaningful difference. Our friend Ron Rapp at HAVAN explains:Many municipalities don't have the staff and the resources to streamline the processes blocking more housing construction. In some cases, they are competing for labour resources. "We're seeing a migration from one municipality to the next as they're literally poaching staff from one another," he said. In other cases, streamlining the plethora of regulations and bylaws surrounding housing development can be a significant undertaking, according to Rapp. "It's like one thing on top of another to the point where it has become so complex that it becomes difficult to pull apart and expedite because it's passing through 35 or 40 hands before it reaches the end of the process," he said. ...
